Rare diseases: How can cancer research and data shed light on rare diseases?

This roundtable, moderated by Mélina Gilberg (Amgen), will focus on the challenges and opportunities of data generation in rare diseases, and how the work carried out within the Sector has opened up new perspectives and valuable insights that go beyond cancer.

Mélina GILBERG
HEOR & RWE Head at Amgen France

Mélina Gilberg holds a master’s degree in fundamental and applied mathematics for health. She began her career at Paris Descartes University in mathematics and epidemiology research and teaching, supported by the CNRS.

After working in London in the fields of pharmacoepidemiology and health economics consulting, Mélina joined the pharmaceutical industry, where she has been working for nearly 10 years.

Currently Director of the HEOR (Health Economics and Outcome Research) team within the Market Access Department at Amgen France, she is responsible for activities related to real-world data generation and health economics. Through Amgen France, Mélina actively participates in bringing together the health data ecosystem through her involvement in FIAC and the AI and Health Strategic Sector Committee, which she coordinates.

Yoann LELARGE
Head of Medical Data Generation at J&J Innovative Medicine France

Yoann holds a master’s degree in Health Technology from Bordeaux, specialising in Epidemiology, and the DIU CESAM from Sorbonne University. He began his career in the real-world data department at Roche France.

With over 10 years’ experience, he is currently Head of Data Generation in Oncology at J&J Innovative Medicine in France, coordinating data plans for the Market Access and Medical teams.

Laura LUCIANI
Head of Real-World Data at Merck France

Laura is a pharmacist from the Léon Bérard University in Lyon and holds a master’s degree in epidemiology and health economics from the Université de Montréal. She began her career at McGill University in Canada, in pharmacoepidemiology research.

With over 10 years’ experience in the field of real-world data and HEOR (Health Economics and Outcomes Research), she has worked across various medical device and pharmaceutical industries.

Today, as Head of Real-World Data within the Medical Department at Merck France, she is responsible for activities related to the generation of real-world and value data to meet the needs of health authorities and healthcare professionals. Laura, through Merck, contributes to harmonising the real-world health data ecosystem thanks to her involvement in the Sector’s strategic committee and LEEM working groups.

Thibaud GUYMARD
Innovation, Services & Digital (ISD) Director at Biogen France

With 15 years’ experience across the agency, consulting and pharmaceutical industry sectors, Thibaud has held strategic roles in innovation, digital and business development, both at France/Europe level (9 years) and internationally (6 years).

He is currently Innovation, Services & Digital (ISD) Director and a member of the Executive Committee at Biogen France.

Pierre-Alexandre SQUARA
Global RWE Scientist at Pfizer

Pierre-Alexandre is a Public Health physician, graduated from Paris Cité University, and holds a Master 2 in Methodology and Biostatistics in Biomedical Research from Paris-Saclay University.

With over 8 years of scientific and professional experience in the field of RWE, in both the public and private sectors, he joined Pfizer in November 2021. His main mission: to generate real-world evidence, primarily at European level, to support the development, medical strategy and market access of Pfizer products in Multiple Myeloma.

Pierre-Alexandre also has a France-based role, which mainly involves developing the evidence-generation strategy in Oncology.
